The Anti-Resolution Revolution!

Happy New Year Everyone!
With the New Year officially here, the world  is ready to change their ways!  All of a sudden our bodies are too fluffy, our daily habits are suddenly affecting our health, our goals are not being met and we are ready to breathe new life into our half-dead relationships.  Our “resolutions” are usually as fleeting as the countdown itself!  By spring, we are eating everything in sight, falling into old habits, pushing our goals off for another day and losing touch with family and friends.   As the fearless leader of the Anti-Resolution Revolution, I believe we should live in a big-picture world instead of a fleeting moment’s one. So put down that meaningless list and listen to this!

Refer to any resolution list and you will find some sort of lifestyle change.  Those are great, but instead of setting an unrealistic goal try these suggestions instead:
Quitting Smoking/Drinking: The start of a New Year may not equal you being ready to quit.  If you are serious about making this change, don’t head to your drugstore for assistance.  Get to a doctor!  Use your resources to create a life-long plan that will encourage you to stay on track.  Engage in activities and frequent atmospheres that work with your goals.    Involving family and friends can make the journey easier.

Losing Weight:  As an alternative to pre-paying for a gym membership that will be wasted or starving yourself, find alternate ways to stay healthy.   Take a challenging and addictive course that encourages social interaction and fun movement.  Invite your friends for added support and memories.Buy a Wii and have work-out parties.  Run (not walk) to your nearest bookstore and pick up a cookbook with healthy and tasty recipes.  Instead of going out for fattening dinners, make a meal for friends.  Get creative!

Managing Time and Completing Tasks: Our goals and dreams are never impossible with the right plan.  When you fail to plan, you plan to fail!  Visualize yourself where you want to be and take reasonable steps to get there.  Small changes can result in large accomplishments.  If you have to make lists, get writing!  If you have to get moving, stop waiting!  Everyone tackles goals differently.  Find what works for you and never stop.  Every task you complete, whether large or small…CELEBRATE!

Spending More Time With Family/Friends:  Making memories should not be limited to a special occasion.  Create beautiful moments with the people you love often and take tons of pictures!  Small things like frequent phone calls, “just because” gifts, get-together's and outings that break the mold (house parties, museums, road trips, work-out classes, picnics, etc.) can strengthen and develop relationships.  Being there often can eliminate the need to catch up or regret missing out.

Replace the "s" with a "v"!
Start your own revolution!

So, before you make a promise to yourself that you probably won’t keep, join me in the anti-resolution revolution!  Having goals for yourself and your life should not be limited to January 1.  If it makes you feel better, countdown every new DAY and strive to make it better than your yesterday.  Time is too precious to waste planning the life we want instead of creating it all year round.  Starting in 2011, make your life about progression and not empty promises.  Ta-ta for now!
